At Pescatech, it's not just cleaning solutions and top-quality products that we're passionate about. We're also dedicated to helping communities, supporting vital causes and, of course, doing what we can to protect our environment too!

St Joseph’s Home

Another incredibly worthwhile organisation that we at Pescatech were privileged to support this year is St Joseph’s Home. They provide full time, and free, medical and rehabilitative care for children who suffer from chronic and debilitating illnesses – and even have a school, OT facilities and a church on site as well. St Joseph’s truly believe in looking after the children in a holistic manner.

So, along with a substantial donation of textbooks and reading books from Boston Private School, we at Pescatech visited St Joseph’s to donate a wide variety of cleaning equipment and supplies to the value of R8000. But making a donation wasn’t all we did at the home... we were also challenged by the kids to a soccer match – and, boy, did we give them a run for their money! Of course, we’re looking forward to the re-match as well as to supporting St Joseph’s in the future.

The Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL)

Since 1956 the Animal Anti-Cruelty League has been committed to protecting and caring for animals in need. They provide shelter for abandoned animals, promote an adoption programme, prosecute animal cruelty cases, run welfare hospitals and so much more. And, as South Africa’s second largest independent Animal Welfare Organisation, they rely solely on the generosity and compassion of the public for financial support – something that we at Pescatech took to heart.

So in November 2012, we visited one of their branches and conducted a full assessment to see how we could help. We then implemented our unique colour-coded system in different areas to help prevent cross contamination, as well as maintain a high standard of hygiene. Plus, we also donated a full range of cleaning equipment and supplies worth over R6000! Since then, we’ve been humbled to hear how grateful and happy the AACL staff are with their new equipment – and the difference that it’s made to such an important organisation.

SPCA

Last year, Pescatech generously decided to sponsor the SPCA Hospital in Grassy Park - by donating over R17 000 in equipment and services. We implemented a variety of innovative cleaning solutions - from the general admissions area right through to the surgical pre- and post-op rooms - and today, we're pleased to report that it's made a significant difference!

Not only can the staff at the SPCA clean more efficiently and hygienically, thanks to our top-of-the-range Vikan equipment and highly functional colour-coding system, but they are also using less water, and reducing the risk of contamination and spread of contagious diseases.

According to Wendy Robinson, Hospital Administrator for the SPCA, the ward orderlies at the Hospital have been using the Pescatech products for over a year now, and find them to be much more effective and longer lasting. From the scrubbing brooms and squeegees to the nail brushes - each product shows very little signs of wear and tear - and the SPCA is extremely appreciative of Pescatech's donation, which has also helped the Hospital cut down on its cleaning expenses too.

The Children's Hospital Trust

The Children's Hospital Trust raises funds for the Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital and Paediatric Healthcare in the Western Cape - and we at Pescatech greatly admire everything that they have accomplished. They help the Hospital care for over 250 000 little patients every year, along with a team of selflessly dedicated doctors, nurses and hospital staff.

That's why we were thrilled in 2012 when we had the chance to help out, by donating 50 pairs of Sanita Safety Shoes, valued at over R20 000, to the nursing staff at the Hospital. Now these aren't just any shoes. Sanita Safety Shoes are quite possibly the most comfortable (and good looking) clogs in the world! Thanks to their innovative design and exacting standards, these shoes are always easy on the feet - particularly useful if, like the Hospital nurses, you're on your feet several hours a day. Needless to say the nurses were absolutely delighted - and so were we.

Once again, at the end of 2013, we were delighted to be able to help out. In lieu of Christmas gifts to our valued clients, we made a donation of R5 000 to this great organisation.

St Luke's Hospice

For over 30 years, St Luke's Hospice in Cape Town has been providing palliative care to terminally ill patients and their loved ones. Whether in the wards, or at patients' homes, their staff and volunteers tirelessly offer support and counselling - at absolutely no cost.

So, when we at Pescatech had the opportunity to help these selfless individuals, we jumped at it.
We donated several pairs of Sanita Safety Shoes (worth over R20 000) to some of the nursing staff at the Hospice. And because St Luke's offers round-the-clock care, these specially designed shoes can help provide some much-needed comfort to those on their feet for long hours. It's such a small way to give back to such an incredible organisation, but we were so pleased to make a difference in any way we could.

Christine Revell Children's Home

Perhaps one of the most rewarding memories we at Pescatech now share, is the day that we visited the Christine Revell Children's Home. This cause is one very close to our hearts and we were delighted to be able to donate a variety of cleaning equipment, as well as groceries and stationery, to some very deserving - and lovable - children!

Not only did we install all the new top-quality cleaning equipment (and provide a demonstration about how to use it), but, more importantly, we got to spend some real quality time with kids, playing with them, laughing with them and having an amazing time! It was an incredible day for all who were there - and we hope to do a great deal more for these kids in the future!

Shark Focus Magazine

The environment is clearly something that everyone at Pescatech cares about. It's why we insist on products that not only save water - but are environmentally- friendly too - and, as such, it makes sense that our CEO Tino is perhaps the most environmentally conscious of us all. And although he supports a variety of 'green' causes, as a keen diver the one closest to his heart is the Shark Trust. This vital initiative supports the protection of sharks in our oceans and we, like Tino, urge you to support it too.
